Story

Despite our efforts to find treatment for Sarah, it is with deep sadness that we must announce that on 18th January Sarah passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Sarah had meetings with both the Royal Marsden and Christie hospitals. Although there was a glimmer of hope that we had found her a potential treatment Sarah was just too poorly. With the agreement of supporters, once these bills have been paid we hope to use the remaining funds to support Sarah's children who have been through so much this past 3 years.

Any further donations would be gratefully received by them.

We would like your help to raise money to fund cancer treatment for Sarah which is not currently available to her on the NHS. Sarah has stage 4 breast cancer and she lost her amazing husband Steve to gastric cancer in June this year. She has recently been given another blow that her cancer is progressing in her brain. We are awaiting a referral to a private hospital in order to get a second opinion and fight to be given the option of HER2CLIMB which is proven to fight her type of cancer. The cost of this is huge with an estimate of £50,000 for 5 months of treatment but to give Sarah more time with her 3 children is priceless to her and them. Sarah and her family have had the most horrific, unimaginable time over the last 3 years and you can read her full story below.

Thankyou for a donation or even a share, to get her story seen. We will continue to provide updates on the progress of her getting treatment.

In May 2020 3 months after giving birth to her third child Arthur, Sarah was diagnosed with advanced and incurable breast cancer which had spread to several areas of her body. Shortly after her first treatment she became really unwell, we were told that Sarah was going to die and had a matter of weeks to live. Sarah then married her husband Steve at a private ceremony in her home. After this, in what was described by the doctors as a miracle Sarah slowly began to improve and was able to continue her chemotherapy treatment.

During this time Steve became unwell and was himself diagnosed with advanced gastric cancer. It was unbelievable that the family could be going through this again. Steve had chemotherapy and both were well for a while. Sarah and Steve planned the wedding of their dreams with money which was donated by family, friends and strangers who had heard of their story. They planned a holiday for the children to Disney Land and were looking forward to making memories now that they were able. Steves cancer had progressed but he was having chemotherapy tablets and was being monitored by his doctors.

Unfortunately, in April this year the day after Sarahs hen party, just before their wedding, Sarah had a seizure and was taken to hospital. It was at this time we were told her cancer had begun to spread again. This time to her brain. Sarah had to have whole brain radiotherapy to fight her cancer. At the same time Steve was becoming more poorly and was admitted to hospital. The chemotherapy he was on was not working and a new treatment needed to be started when he was strong enough. Sarah visited Steve in hospital while she was recovering from her radiotherapy, they postponed their wedding and their family holiday was cancelled.

It was decided in June that Steve would move to Barnsley Hospice to try to build himself up. In a huge shock to the family and Steves doctors he died that day leaving Sarah, Arthur and their other children Evodie, Jacob, Ben and Tyler devastated. Through her grief Sarah continued to fight, she responded well to her treatment and supported by her family she has made memories with hers and Steves childrren.

On the 14th of November Sarah became unwell again and was admitted to hospital where a scan to her brain showed that her cancer has progressed rapidly. She needs treatment urgently however her doctors opinion is that she is not currently well enough to do so and instead has agreed to meet her in 2 weeks. If she feels Sarah has improved she will give her the next line of treatment available on the NHS. The doctor has agreed that this treatment is not the most effective against Sarahs cancer as it doesn't cross into the brain as easily as the HER2CLIMB. Sarah has requested this but has been told it is not available on the NHS. We are now looking to go private to fund this to give Sarah the best chance she has of spending more time with her children. To Sarah this is priceless.
