I've raised £1500 to source & purchase critical supplies for Help Refugees, the biggest aid operation in northern France directly supporting over 1,000 refugees

Despite the eviction of an estimated 6,000 refugees out of the Calais ‘Jungle’ in October 2016 and the disastrous fire in Dunkirk in April 2017 (which left over 1,500 refugees shelterless), Help Refugees continue to support those who are arriving in Calais and sleeping rough. They are providing blankets, clothes and food to hundreds of refugees, predominantly unaccompanied minors.
In addition to volunteering on-site in Calais later this year, I've volunteered to drive donations from the UK to Calais. Sadly, I've just been told that there are currently no supplies to take down there. This is why I decided to put together this fundraiser.
These are the things that are urgently needed in Calais today:
1. Tents - since French authorities confiscate them daily directly from the refugees (£20 each)
2. Sleeping bags/blankets (£10-15 each)
3. Waterproof jackets (£10-£15 each)
4. Shoes and boots (£25 each)
My fundraising goal is high but I've set my heart on not arriving in Calais with anything less than a car filled to the brim with supplies to keep folks warm and dry during what might be the most difficult winter of their lives.
Help me make it happen.
Thanks,
Sarah
