This is an incredible achievement to be training and coming into school on a daily basis. The Staff members are Miss Alice Tredgett, who Teaches Y4 and Mr Hutchinson, who teaches Y5. Alice has previously run the London Marathon on 3 occasions before as well as other full ( Manchester and Edinburgh) and half marathons. Last year, she completed the run in 3hours 26 mins - a personal best. Justin is a regular runner at Gloucester Parkrun and has previously completed a full marathon and two Ultra Marathons. He is also aiming for a personal best. As a very diverse school we are tracking the training miles they cover and thinking about where in the world it would take you. By week 3 they have collectively run 258 miles. The children have used maps and maths to work out they have run enough miles to get to Paris France! As a school we are raising money for the City farm which is opposite our school, if the city farm remains closed the school council will nominate another local charity to receive the donations

The city farm aim to connect the tremendous talent in the City with the many opportunities in training, employment and leisure found in the countryside. They do this by providing hands on practical farm experience and acting as a gateway, building knowledge and creating aspirations so inner-city children and families can have fun, learn and benefit from interaction with animals and nature. As well as the experience placements, they also aim to give city children a chance to see farm animals and ponies on their doorstep and nurture an interest in animals. They can only do this through their dedicated team of staff and volunteers and through the support of different organisations and donors.

They also run a tiny riding school, which aims to give an opportunity for children who would otherwise not have the chance, to learn the basics of riding and horse care with 1-1 lessons. It aims to link young people to horses and hopefully explore the many horse-related career and leisure opportunities. There priority group are local inner-city children who cannot afford to ride normally.

Without the help of donations the city farm cannot offer these wonderful services. The children benefit greatly from the riding lessons as well as being able to visit on their way home.
