In January next year I will be going to Saskatchewan, North Canada with a christian organisation called Soul Edge. I need to raise the money myself so have set up this page to help.

Soul Edge is an organisation formed as an offshoot from Soul Survivor where I became aware of their work. I have been intrigued by their Gap Year activities with its pursuit of adventure, teaching and missional outreach in disadvantaged local indigenous Inuit communities.

Soul Edge is a leadership training course focussing on equipping and empowering young men and women to bring about change to the world around them. The course is divided into 2 parts; initially there is a training phase, which includes serving opportunities in local churches as well as outdoor activities and survival techniques. For example, I will be involved in leading children's groups and helping at the local community youth groups. In the second phase we will travel to the Pelican Narrows, in Northern Saskatchewan, to help local full-time missionaries with their work in the communities there. There we will be involved in community litter picking, gardening, fitting smoke alarms in homes, yard cleaning, running children's sports activities and befriending local First Nation people.

Having a Gap Year is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I really want to make the best of the twelve months. I hope to build strong relationships with a team working in an international setting. It will be a privilege to help the community where we will be living. I hope that I will be able to support the team who are out there all year round and that I can learn lessons that I can pass on to others when I come back.
