Story
We have recently been told that our governing body will not be able to contribute financially to supporting any weightlifters in Britain go to international competitions to qualify for the Olympics. The cost for each competition is about £2000 and we MUST compete in 6 of these competitions in order to be eligible to qualify for the Olympics. It's going to be a long hard journey to try and qualify anyway, plus the added financial stress will be tough but I'm so determined to go I will find a way and I hope you can help support this dream

4 years agoWith the Olympic delayed until this time next year it means another year of pushing myself to achieve my goals. Although it's disheartening it means another year to get stronger and better :)

4 years agoOlympic qualification is going well so far. I have a minimum of 2 competitions left between now and April which is when qualification ends. I'm off to Rome in 3 weeks which I'm really excited for after working with a new coach

To go to the Olympics you have to compete in 6 international competitions to even be eligible let alone the actual lifting enough weight. The cost of each competition with flights, hotel, enteries etc is about £2000 which is no small amount to find down the sofa!
