My younger brother was born in Bal Jattan village, India. The village's midwife used rusted sickle to cut his umbilical cord. He developed tetanus. The nearest hospital was 12miles (similar distance from Witney to JR hospital) away in Panipat. My dad was in the army, 1200 miles away from us. My uncle took my dad's aunt and my brother in her arm to the hospital, on a bicycle. They were just on time. He survived and today he is father of two beautiful girls.
Not every one was as lucky as my brother. My village still hasn't got any doctor or hospital nor any ambulance to take patients to the hospital. People use their cycles, scooters, cars or vans or wait for public transport (only twice a day) to take patients to the nearest hospital.
The village needs an ambulance. My dad has set up a trust in the name of my Grandma and Granddad for the welfare of the village. One such cause is to buy an ambulance for the village, which will transport patients free of cost to the nearest hospital. The cost of very cheap ambulance in India is around Rs 3,00,000 (around £3700).
I hope that you will help me to support my parent's and the trust's efforts in buying an ambulance to save lives of many people in my village.
