Story
Our situation
Dorset Gliding Club has found itself in the position of having its airfield sold by the landowner.
We are trying to raise an extra £10,000 through crowdfunding, to help Dorset Gliding Club maintain a bright and secure future and still provide flying opportunities to all.
Who benefits from Dorset Gliding Club?
Everyone! Gliding is a sport open to all, young or old.
If you have ever dreamt of flying but thought it would be expensive, gliding provides a safe and affordable way to learn to fly.
Using the same naturally occurring currents of air that birds use to fly, gliders can soar 100s of miles across open countryside, at great height and speeds of over 100mph all without an engine.
Those who try gliding with Dorset Gliding Club discover the possibilities of this amazing adventure sport.
Why should you donate?
Dorset Gliding Club is one of the oldest gliding clubs in the country and can claim to have trained pilots who have gone on to become national champions. Without a gliding field to support Dorset, opportunities to discover the magic of flying will be more limited and potentially expensive for those who wish to learn.
Gliding provides more than just aerial experiences. It is very sociable and our members and pilots range from as young as 14 up to 89 years of age!
People who discover gliding typically:
• Gain valuable life skills in team building & communication
• Gain a greater confidence
• Get plenty of outdoor exercise
• Get exercises that keep them mentally & physically fit
• Achieve a greater understanding of flying to further their careers in commercial or military aviation
How you can help
We need to raise an additional £10,000 in funds to help secure the future of our club and assist future generations of pilots.
