Story
Dear Friends and Family,
Please help me rescue this poor 8 week old kitten I found, alone, desperately hungry, thirsty and in need of care!
Currently I am trying to urgently organise transport for her to England to give her a safe and happy life. At the minute I am paying for her to be looked after in a cattery in Santorini. PLEASE HELP! There is much I need to do to give her a new life and any donation will be a massive help to make this possible!
While I was on holiday in Greece a few days ago, I found a stray baby girl cat, at the hotel where me and my family were in Santorini. The kitty was less than 8 weeks old at the time, with lack of hair on her back legs, injured leg, cuts all over her, lack of hair behind the ears and tail. She was skinny and desperately hungry and thirsty!
The first time I saw the baby kitty at the hotel, she was trying to drink water desperately from the swimming pool, but as she is so little she could not reach it, she almost fell in the swimming pool and I helped her. Me and my grandmother gave her water and she drank it all and asked us more, she was so thirsty in the dry weather and over 30 degrees. After she tried to eat my breakfast from my plate, she was also so hungry, we gave her some food and since then, she would not stop following me.
I asked the hotel owner and he said she did not have an owner, and that her mother was run over by a car in front of the hotel, and the she was there since that, which did not have milk and the right nutrients to grow and cats need at last 12 weeks with their mum.
Anyway, I tried to contact a lot of people and no one would take the cat. My amazing friend Elouise help me to contact a lot of people and she found a place where they send stray cats abroad for all over the world.
This is where she is staying now: http://www.santorini-cats.com/
I took the kitty to this place on my last day in Santorini, before I went to Mykonos!
I had to pay €350 to leave the cat with this company. It includes vet check up with first vaccinations, rabies vaccination, microchip and passport and the first days of care, after I am paying €5 a day to keep her there. However, the kitty is too young to travel, it needs to be at last 12 weeks by law to get rabies vaccination, and to be allowed to travel to any country.
They will have 3 cats with an escort to send via plane to Brussels and I will have to travel to Brussels to pick up the cats to help the other people that are also rescuing. The price I have paid already is not including the flight with an escort, and all the arrangements to bring the the cat to the UK. It will cost me around €800 at least. As you all know I am a student and I cannot afford all this money. But, I cannot leave her on the street hungry, thirsty and sick, when I can give her a home and a lot of love.
I am asking if you, my dear friends and family, could help me to make this possible.
Please share this page with anyone you know that loves animals and that can help!
I have named our kitty Oia, it is pronounced “Eaa”, ('Ia' in Portuguese) for those that don't know it's the name of the most famous town of Santorini, as I found her in Santorini, so I wanted to give her a Greek name from the island. She is very young and little, very friendly and playful. I cannot live with myself leaving her there trying to survive on her own by a busy road.
I know I cannot save all the animals in this world unfortunately! It is my dream one day to open a animal charity and help as many animals of all species I can. But, unfortunately you need a lot of money for that. For now I am a student that got as a birthday present from my grandmother this holiday to Greece with them. I cannot afford all this money, I am using my overdraft at the moment, which I will have to pay back to the bank.
If each of you donate £5-£10 at least will be a great help! Please share with your friends and family to make this possible to bring Oia to her new home!
I truly believe if we all one day in our lives adopt an animal and give them home, food, water and love, this world would be so much better and less animals on the street dying every day. There are too many animals on the streets of Greece, with an average life of only 2 years. I know I am from Brazil, and it is even worse there, but with Europe being first world it is pretty shocking how hard it is for some of these animals to survive.
I really appreciate your help and donation. I truly appreciate your help and friendship to make this possible and help me to bring Oia to her new home! Where she will have brother and sisters, as we already have Lola, Frankfurter and Skittles, and two parents to love and spoil her!
Lots of love and let’s help animals around the world! Enough suffering to animals!!!! Be better and make a difference! :)
Thank you again!
