Story

We are on a mission to raise funds to complete the renovation and refurbishment of the community-owned Brockweir Country Inn.

Located in the Wye Valley, near Chepstow in the southern borders between England and Wales, the Brockweir Inn has been a pub for over 250 years. From the 1300’s onward Brockweir was a hive of riverside activity and in the 1800’s there were up to 17 pubs in the village, but now the Brockweir Inn is the final one.

In 2019 the pub closed for renovation work and hasn’t opened since. The community wanted to return it back to a pub, so in 2024 they started the BICBS (Brockweir Inn Community Benefit Society Ltd.) and launched a share offer to raise funds to buy the pub. With the incredible support of over 395 members who purchased shares totalling just under £400,000, the community acquired the building in December 2024.

However, our journey is not over yet. We need additional funds to finalise the building renovations, refurbish the pub, and reopen our doors to the community and visitors alike.

To raise the funds needed we are applying for grants, continuing to run fundraising events and seeking donations. If you wish to help get this historic pub back open know 100% of your donation will go to the pub refurbishment – all of the people involved in BICBS volunteer - no-one takes a wage or expenses – so every penny of your donation will count. Your contribution will play a vital role in making this vision a reality. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.

Together, we can breathe new life into this cherished establishment and create a hub of warmth and hospitality for all.
