Story

This is to raise funds to help a couple fight to SAVE THE LIFE of their rescue dog, Alf, in court.

They are desperate to get him home, after the police assessed him as an XL bully and shut him away in police kennels.

It is now months since they have seen their friendly, gentle and loving boy.

Alf has never done anything wrong, yet he is being punished because of what he looks like. This is sadly perfectly legal under UK law.

The couple took Alf on after the death of a parent, Alf's owner. They love Alf so much that they can't bear to think how frightened, confused and sad he will be in police kennels (which are awful, lonely places).

He will be beyond heartbroken, thinking his owners have abandoned him and not understanding what he did wrong. The answer is that he did nothing wrong.

There is quite a shocking story behind how Alf came to be seized:

The couple who own Alf had planned to go shopping, so had separated their dogs, putting some into their crates. They had expected to be out for less than an hour.

While they were out, they were utterly horrified to find armed police arresting them at gunpoint, accusing them of having fired a firearm!

Charges were later dropped due to evidence showing their innocence (CCTV, forensics and searches clear, no history of violence/firearms, and more). However, at the time, they were questioned and kept in custody.

During their time in custody, the couple repeatedly expressed concern about their dogs at home. The police kept assuring them that their dogs were OK and that police officers were with them. What the couple didn't realise is that police were simply sitting outside their house, and their dogs were alone.

The couple had offered to give the police phone numbers of people who would look after their dogs while they were at the police station, but the police said there was no need because the Dog Unit was on its way.

In reality, the police left the dogs in the couple's house for 18 hours without going in. In that time, unfortunately two of the boys had become so distressed that they had got out of their crates and had a nasty fight, injuring each other quite badly. The police then put one of the dogs to sleep.

The couple were horrified and angry that while they were being assured their dogs were OK, the police had left alone them for 18 hours.

Police then accused THEM of not looking after their animals!

The couple were so angry about the whole thing that they threatened to sue the arresting police officer. Since then they have felt harassed by the police.

The police seized their dogs, saying they were suspected XL bullies.

After the dogs were assessed, Alf was the only one who was typed as a banned breed.

The couple are now at the appeal stage of trying to save Alf's life, but they can only do so if they can raise the funds to put towards the legal fees. Otherwise, poor sweet Alf, who has never done anything wrong, will be put to sleep by the police. Alf will be yet another innocent victim of breed specific legislation (BSL), and his owners will be devastated.

Fundraising groups on Facebook have been approached to help, but they are all so overwhelmed with other cases that they currently cannot help.

During the original court case the couple did not have access to a dog law specialist solicitor, or any advice from sources knowledgeable about UK dog law, so it is not altogether surprising that the judge did not decide in their favour.

For the appeal, the couple have been put in touch with dog law specialist lawyers for representation.

The appeal is the VERY LAST CHANCE to save Alf.

So many dogs that are typed as banned breeds have owners who sadly do not fight for them. Tragically, they are put to sleep. Alf's owners DO want to fight for him, but won't be able to if they cannot raise the funds for the legal representation by dog law specialist solicitors that they need.It will also cover barrister and expert witness costs.

Please help save innocent Alf's life.
