Story
We need funds to fight plans to build a quarry just 350 metres away from our village, which is set in the heart of Shakespeare's County, close to both Warwick Castle and Charlecote Park.
The construction of this quarry would have the following devastating effects:
** Irreparable damage to the land targeted for the quarry site. Currently prime farmland, it would not be possible to return this site to its current beauty or use.
** The destruction of an area of beautiful natural countryside and heritage.
** Serious health issues for the villagers, including children at the village nursery and St Peters Primary School. Quarry dust causes potentially fatal and life-limiting lung diseases such as Silicosis.
** An additional 60 lorries to the A429 every day, plus numerous site vehicles, including slow lorries spraying water to try to dampen down the dust. (If you think it's bad now.....)
We have already raised and used funds to pay for reports on damage to the environment, sustainability, destruction of prime agricultural land, implications for heritage etc. Unfortunately, it seems that nobody is listening.....
We immediately need additional funds to employ mineral planning experts. It is likely that we will need further specialist advice and the services of a barrister to make our fight successful.
