I've raised £500 to help fund my Trip to Ghana in October - to volunteer and help children who don't have what we have here in the UK!

A typical day in my life: I wake up in my bed without the worry of mosquitos and malaria, I get dressed, eat breakfast and then probably complain all the way to college about all the homework I had to do last night and how I've run out of mobile data! However, to some children in Ghana and wider Africa, they may lack the stationary and school supplies they need to get an education. Everyday, mundane acts that I carry out (and complain about) are inaccessible to many Ghanian children.
There was a very high rate of illiteracy in Ghana before Charities like African Adventures began to improve services and equipment that the communities needed. Literacy rates have greatly improved with males at 82%, and females at 80% - showing how small changes can have a big impact!
In Ghana, 24.2 percent of Ghanaians (which is 6.4 million people) cannot afford to spend GHS 3.60 (53 pence) on food a day.
...Therefore, these people are well below the poverty line, don't have the same opportunities that we have here in the UK. Even though Ghana has been able to eradicated extreme hunger and poverty, the situation of general poverty is still high in rural areas and many children are still unable to access education. So, if together we can raise £1500, I can travel to Ghana and do my small bit, to help children and families and also change my own perspective... to worry less about how much mobile data I have left and see the bigger picture!
