Weʼve raised £2,600 to Help Save Glebe Field, St Margaret's, bought for the village by a charity in 1972 and now under threat from development as a housing estate.

Funded on Wednesday, 8th December 2021

    Story

The Save Glebe Group, made up of a group of village residents, want to stop the proposed development of Glebe Field, opposite the Village Hall in St Margaret's at Cliffe. This land was bought to save it from development in 1972 by the original St Margaret's Bay Trust. The plan to build 14 dwellings here will destroy a designated Open Space, threaten the viability of the village hall and prevent the land being used for community activities. We would like to see it returned to its decades long use as a resource for the village fetes, Christmas Lights switch on, concerts, outdoor drama, Scout and Brownie activities and a haven for wildlife in the centre of our village.

We are over a quarter of the way to our target, many thanks. You will be seeing the first visible signs of the campaign very soon. Here's another tug of war on Glebe Field at one of the many Village fetes held there.

This is one of the regular fetes held for many years on the field and something we want to reinstate, but we can only do this if we save it from becoming a housing estate. Please support the campaign. Every donation counts!
