Story

Your farms, fields and open spaces are under threat like never before, we need to act NOW to protect them. Developers are hovering like vultures, some have already been given first option on the land.

The greenbelt is important to all of us, in particular, young children. The greenbelt helps to provide clean and fresh air, it is the oxygen for our lungs, it is our wellbeing. We are fighting this destruction, not just for ourselves but for our children, our children’s children and all that come after us. We don't want to be known as the generation that saw our greenbelt taken away and we did nothing about it.

Over the last fifty years we have seen almost all Greasby/Frankby/Irby greenbelt disappear under the bulldozers; we have very little left.

It is intended to take away Greenhouse Farm in Greasby and build a new road across the land towards Irby, to the west of that road, it is intended to build 311 houses, increasing to 534 and down Pump Lane 682 houses subject to the local plan. 92 properties planned on Sandy Lane in Irby & around 100 in Hillbark Road, Frankby.

Under Wirral Borough Council's local Plan, they intend to build over 12,500 houses over a 15yr period, stating that these are government targets. WBC, have not challenged those figures, which, they are entitled to do.

Greasby/Frankby/Irby will be the areas hardest hit by these proposals. With over 1200 new builds on our farms and fields, there is just one farm left in Greasby and we MUST stop its destruction. We MUST do all we can to stop this from happening. We will challenge these proposals in the best way we can.

What can you do to help? You can donate to our group. We need to raise funds for advertising, stationery, printers, leaflets, holding meetings and any legal costs. You can also sign our petition https://www.change.org/p/councillor-pat-hackett-save-greasby-frankby-irby-farms-fields-green-belt-open-spaces

We will continue to campaign around our Ward. We must spread awareness.

All monies raised will go towards our costs, however, should there be any left over at the end of the campaign we will either, pass to a charity or to a similar campaigning group.

WE MUST SAVE OUR GREEN BELT! ONCE IT’S GONE IT’S GONE FOREVER!
