My name is Apoorvagiri, I am a researcher in Biomedical Technologies, I am born and brought up from a small town called Tumakuru which is 70kms from Bengaluru. The Government Hospitals in my district is in very bad state and there is no good infrastructure/ trained personals for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

What is my campaign about?:

Around 50,000 mothers and 13 million newborns die every year in the country during or immediately after delivery. Most Infants suffer from birth asphyxia: when a baby doesn't receive enough oxygen at birth. Other cases involved neonatal sepsis, a blood infection that occurs in infants younger than 90 days. A typical NICU needs Basic Medical equipments like Incubators, Respiratory equipments (Ventilators), Monitoring Equipments. Besides neonatal health conditions, widespread illiteracy, poverty, poor sanitation, poor infrastructure in hospitals, and nutrition have also been identified as contributors to high rates of child mortality in India. Seeing many tragic events of infant deaths in all around my country has made me to do something about it. Its unacceptable to see those little ones die before they open their eyes.

How will the funds be utilized or how will they help?

I will need your help to build better infrastructure and provide training for the personals in hospitals particularly government hospitals.

I will utilize your fund to procure following Medical Equipments.

1. Respiratory Equipment

a. Nasal cannulas

b. CPAP: Continuous positive airway pressure equipment

c. Ventilators

2. Monitoring Equipment in for premature infants

a. Cardiac monitors

b. Respiratory monitors

c. Pulse oximeters

3. IV Equipment for Premature infants: thin tubes that go into the veins to allow staff to infuse fluids or medicines directly into the veins.

a. Peripheral IVs

b. PICC lines

c. Umbilical catheters

4. Other Equipment

a. Feeding tubes

b. Incubators

c. Phototherapy lights

I need your kind help as much as possible to get these Equipment and also train the personals, Together we can help Government Hospitals in our vicinity as much as possible I want to request for your help to achieve this.
