Story
UPDATE: 20/06/2018
The #saveourtown campaign has been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of people in Luton and beyond since the JustGiving page first went live, and the sheer number of donations that we have received so far.
The speed with which we raised £5,000 is testament to the desire there is for the Newlands Park and Power Court developments to go ahead, and only makes us more determined to work harder to ensure that our town gets the facilities, it wants, needs and deserves.
We are spending those funds very wisely and every penny contributed will be fully accounted for, however we are aware that this could still be a lengthy campaign and want to ensure that the voices of all those people who are behind us are heard for its duration.
That's why, as a committee, we've made the decision to double the fundraising target. This will help us to continue sharing our messages and maintaining the momentum throughout the summer, and beyond, if necessary.
Our campaign strength and activities will be largely dependent on your generous donations. Quite simply, the more funds available the more effective we will be in saving YOUR town.
Over the coming weeks tens of thousands of leaflets and posters will drop through letterboxes across Luton. This is only possible due to the funding we have already received (Thank you!)
We know that the campaign is having an effect and we want to be able to keep Newlands Park and Power Court front of mind.
We want to continue educating residents about the community benefits of both developments and showing that its about more than football.
We want to be able to fight to make sure that the most exciting, ambitious and inspirational development for Luton in decades goes ahead.
We want to help put a sense of pride back into Luton.

If you are unable to donate, please share the page on your social media accounts, tell your friends, family and colleagues and help us share the message about the campaign, and the Newlands Park and Power Court developments.
As a community and volunteer campaign any residual funds remaining when the battle is won will be donated to Luton-based charities.

At long last, there are plans to regenerate Luton – with two new developments, Newlands Park and Power Court which will create up to 10,000 new jobs, revitalise the town centre, create a new football stadium, provide an exciting new gateway to the town, and open up land for much needed housing in the Bury Park area.
Newlands Park, will become the gateway to Luton – a new site up at Junction 10 would be filled with exciting leisure activities, aspirational retail, office space and a hotel. Power Court, in the town centre, will be the new home of Luton Town Football Club, but would also become home to vast community space, a hotel, a supermarket and a 1,800 capacity music venue.
While 11,000+ people contacted the council to formally support these plans, their voices risk being drowned out by Capital & Regional (C&R), the owners of the Mall in Luton.
Capital & Regional are trying to block the project to help protect their monopoly on retail in the town, and have threatened to drag the planning process out for as long as possible so that they can continue to dominate - while the rest of the town stagnates.
That's why #saveourtown was created. #saveourtown is a cross-community campaign which has been created to give a voice to Lutonians. We aim to demonstrate the overwhelming support amongst Luton's residents for the Newlands Park and Power Court proposals, and correct inaccurate claims that have been made by Capital & Regional during this application process.
Since our launch we've got off to a fantastic start; gaining over 4,500 followers on social media and receiving print and broadcast coverage - now we need your help in order to maintain momentum.
Any donations received will be used to fund the creation of promotional materials and prepare advertising campaigns to help spread the word about #saveourtown, and the proposals it seeks to support.
As a community campaign any money left at the end of the campaign will be donated to local charities chosen by you - more information on this will be shared across our social media channels.
We'd be very grateful of anything that you can donate to help us achieve these aims, and create the opportunities and facilities that the people of Luton not only want, but deserve.
This is our town, this is our time.
