Story

Please help us save this large forest from destruction 🌳✨

We urgently need your help to stop a devastating quarry expansion in Kingsteignton, Devon.

Sibelco, a privately owned Belgian company, plans to clear a mature oak forest the size of 60 football pitches right beside our town and homes, to dig a massive pit on the banks of the River Teign. If this goes ahead, this terrible plan will:

🌳 Devastate the last mature woodland for miles around our town, the only green area we have left and the last refuge for wildlife in our area. Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.

🏉 Destroy all 3 of our local rugby pitches, and our community fishing lakes 🎣

🌊 Expose the River Teign on a raised ridge, with deep pits on both sides for a long distance, worsening flood risk and damaging water quality with a huge amount of additional effluent.

🦋 Break the Strategic Green Corridor provided by the River Teign

📜 Breach planning policies on landscape, biodiversity and woodland protection

☠️ Create serious public health risks from silica dust, noise and HGV traffic near homes and schools

🐝 Fail to meet the new legal requirement of 110% biodiversity net gain — impossible when felling mature woodland

Why we need funds

We are a grassroots community campaign group run entirely by volunteers. Every donation will go directly to campaigning costs, including:

🦉 Commissioning expert ecological, flood and legal reports

🖨️ Printing leaflets and banners to raise awareness locally

🏛️ Hiring venues for public meetings

⚖️ Specialist legal advice to challenge Sibelco’s planning application

We are not a charity — we are neighbours fighting for our environment, health, and community. That means Gift Aid cannot be claimed, but every pound you give makes a difference.

🙏 Please donate today and share this page with friends, family and neighbours. Together, we can protect our oak woodland, our river, and our health for generations to come.Thank you for standing with us.
