    Story

Help us challenge development on protected land and a process that is currently dictated by the deep pockets of developers.

In July 2019 a Local Planning Authority (Oldham Council) granted permission for 265 houses and a major link road, removing protected open land (OPOL 12), without as far as we are aware any consultation and despite it being rejected in November 2018. This will damage the landscape, character of the area and environment whilst removing a much valued and well used green space for residents to enjoy for recreation and exercise, important for physical and mental health and wellbeing. This will now set a precedent up and down the country for developers to take protected land rather than use appropriate land for housing. We want to challenge this decision to show that councils should protect land and the best interests of their residents and engage in open, honest and transparent consultation rather than underhand tactics to just push through what they want.

Keep up the good fight! Let them build on worthless brownbelt land if they want to provide affordable homes.
