Story

Chapel Lane Action Group are fighting inappropriate development of a small meadow on a rural lane, the last of its kind in Bagshot Village. The local Council, Surrey Heath, unanimously refused the application to build 44 homes in January but Cala Homes, the developer, have appealed that decision.

The lane is surrounded by schools and nurseries and used by so many of us to access amenities on both sides of the village, which is separated by a train line. Villagers value the area for exercise and retreat from the busy roads that surround this small village.

Due to the wide public interest in this application, the decision on whether to refuse or grant the appeal will now be taken at the level of a Public Inquiry by an Inspector, appointed by the Secretary of State. This requires support from an expert witness and a Barrister to participate in forensic and detailed examination on points of disagreement.

In spite of lockdown, the local community has given generously to initiate funding these experts to fight the appeal. Due to the complexity of the issues, the Inspector anticipates extra days will be needed. The donations you make to Chapel Lane Action Group will fund the additional time of experts needed to help fight the appeal.
