    Story

Syria's war: Inside Jordan's Zaatari refugee camp

For almost 80,000 Syrians that fled the war, the camp is home. Almost 60 percent of the camp's population is under-24

Torn between life and death these children have been taken from their homes and forced into desperation by the hands of an oppressive war that has continued for over 8 years. Merciless battles has generated a major influx of orphans whom once shared siblings and parents that now have no identity of their own but the hand they have been dealt by those who have taken over Syria and continue to show very little mercy to the lives of the innocent.

Justice is far from a word that would comprehend to the minds of the oppressors and in time crime, blood and violence has only shared the bounty received by those who do not fear death and claim to gain peace by means of bullets and an arsenal of machinery to answer God by the number of graves that have followed since March 2011.

A new generation of Syrians is growing up within the refugee camp. Around 57 percent of the population is under 24 with almost 20 percent under five.

A broken economy has arose with a people still struggling to meet the basic human needs that we all take for granted, spending days without food or enough water until the next ration is available.

Defiance, hope and bravery are the faces of these children who have been denied so much of their basic human rights and desire only to be shown mercy and saved from starvation and death.

Desperate times call upon desperate measures and the approach I wish to take is by being more involved and in helping the Syrian children by joining an expedition group into Zaatari's refugee camp, 2km from the Syrian border. The goal is to provide aid as well as food parcels to those victimised by the struggles of war and gain insight into the truth of the people, hearing their stories where many bodies still remain cluttered and disregarded, caused by a war without any sign of remorse.

The pen is mightier than the sword

If there are those who would like to give these children another chance at life, please donate. The pen is mightier than the sword and to provide these orphans with a means of education, a means of facilitating their own survival and a means of settlement in the dusty, arid and unforgiving landscape of their current situation. It would restore hope in the lost eyes of these innocent lives.

We are pledging the entire raised money so far plus of £20,000 entirely to food packs. As we have been speaking to other charities in these camps we have had feed back that more is needed for these people who reside in the camps. We will be looking to raise a total amount of £25,000 which will be broken down as follows:

    £20,000 - food packs at £60.00 each

    £2,500 - medical/sanity kits at £25.00 each.

£2,500 - blankets at £15.00 each (big blankets which can cover a family)

This will give us food packs for 333 families, 100 medical kits and 166 blankets.

I will be a volunteer in this project, alongside 5 individuals that will be visiting the refugee camp at the end of August, 2018.

We now only required £6,000 to achieve the target of £25,000 before we fly out. Please open your hearts and help us achieve this target. We are so close to the target amount and with your support we can help more of our Syrian brothers and sisters. I will be a volunteer in this project under a registered charity known as the Human Relief Foundation and will be visiting the refugee camp at the end of August, 2018.

All donations will be processed directly to the refugees. 100% donation policy.
