Story
We are under threat. In a time where community pubs are becoming a thing of the past ,Pubcos are finding ways to navigate legislation to their own in end and taking back independent pubs from hard working people .
The Britons Protection has stood proud as an iconic Manchester pub for over 200 years , becoming a destination venue for whisky lovers around the world and a heritage focal point for the great city of Manchester .It now faces a great challenge to the pub as we know it,
After successfully running the Britons Protection for 10 years and battling through Covid-19 to keep a Manchester institution alive ,the current owners and its landlord Allan Hudd were served a devastating blow from building owners Star Pubs & Bars (Under Heineken Uk) who have chosen not to renew the current lease and instead take the pub back into the managed portfolio. This is bad new for them but also the local customers as the offerings that have made the Britons a must visit for anybody visiting Manchester may soon be whittled down to a generic selection that has no unique attraction.
The Britons is home to one of the UKs best whisky collections and even has its own yearly sourced Manchester Cask Jack Daniel's which is very popular with collectors. The team also work with local cask ale suppliers to ensure there is varied selection available on the 8 traditional hand pulls week to week. Unfortunately Star Pubs simply don't have the portfolio to sustain what makes the Britons so special.
We now have to take Star to court to battle to keep what we have made work and stop it from becoming just another unit of 130+ forgettable sites. The cost of this is already mounting and we hope to take this all the way to the end. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Please help save our Pub.
