Catherine Lewis is raising funds to bring a challenge by way of Judicial Review against the decision to proceed with the current plans for a new Velindre Cancer Centre to be built on the Northern Meadows in Whitchurch, Cardiff.

The Welsh Government has failed to take into account material considerations and make sufficient enquiries:-

- as to when UHW2 was anticipated by CVUHB to be operational and the feasibility of including a co-located nVCC in that development

- whether CVULHB would establish “an oncology footprint” at UHW as recommended by the Nuffield Trust

There should have been a clinical review that would have allowed them to properly consider best available evidence and experiences elsewhere, rather than being stuck with a clinical model that the 163 clinicians state in their letter, is out of date.
