    Story

It was with great sadness that we found out this weekend of the impending closure of the Electric Railway Museum in Coventry.

The site, leased to the museum by the council, is now going to be developed. A number of exhibits at the museum are of exceptional importance to the history of the railways of Britain and whilst commuter electric trains may not seem as appealing as Steam they still need to be saved and find new homes to help tell the story of Britain's electric railways.

Among the exhibits are the collection of the Suburban Electric Railway Association which comprises of the unique LMS Class 503 Wirral unit, the sole surving South Tyneside 2-EPB unit, One of the driving motor coaches of the 3 phase traction development unit 457 001 (converted from a class 210 DEMU), the Liverpool Overhead Railway first class trailer car and the body of a City & South London tube carriage built in 1903.

This crowdfunding effort aims to raise as much money as possible to assist with transport costs to new homes which the SERA is currently in the process of negotiating to secure.

Any donations are massively welcome and a share or retweet would be appreciated. Please help us to make sure these many historic units are saved as the Electric Railway Museum closes its doors.

This is an official fundraising action for SERA.

Hey everyone. Amazing effort so far. £4,775 of £10,000. We've had some great news about SERA's assets and can't wait for what the future holds. If you can keep sharing and donating and doing what you can, that would be fantastic!
