Story

Lolita was found as a puppy, in a plastic bag, in the small waterways by the side of the road in Tehran. She was very scared and distressed with good reason, as she would have eventually suffocated or drowned. As is still common in Iran, her owners had tried to chop her tail off, causing an injury. She was covered in her own blood and excrement. Despite all the pain inflicted on her, Lolita is still very loving and kind to people.

The photo above, is of Lolita being checked out by a vet, after being rescued. She is now about 7 months old. Initially she was staying with a foster family, but they haven't been able to keep her as dog ownship is difficult in Iran. It is illegal to have a dog and taking them out for walks can be a challenge, specially a playful dog such as Lolita who has been growing quite fast. Even if we manage to find her a home she may still end up as a stray or chained up as an outside guard dog.

There are a handful of animal shelters in Iran which are fortunately growing in number.  The majority of the dogs they help are strays that are ill, or have been injured following road accidents or animal abuse by the public.  Some of the luckier rescues get adopted by families outside of Iran and are then transported out.   On approaching one of the shelters for Lolita, we were advised to try and find her a home.  We are confident we can provide Lolita a good home in the UK. However, we really need help with the cost of bringing her here. The money will be spent on

- Vaccinations
- Blood test (processed in a Lab in Turkey)
- Passport / customs clearance
- Flight ticket (BA)
- An airline approved crate
- VAT (will be calculated on day of arrival as percentage of estimated value of the rescue dog and cost of shipping)

The shelter will kindly keep her until we arrange the paper work. Lolita is an incredibly intelligent, kind and playful dog who deserves a good life, as all animals do. Please help us make her story a happy one.
