Weʼve raised £250 to help fund for a barrister who will help us object to the Harold Centre alcohol license at the licensing hearing on 3rd October.

    Story

On the 3rd of October, Newham Council will be making a final decision on whether or not to proceed with the alcohol license permit. Myself and a number of people from the local neighbourhood will be going to the hearing to provide our support (we urge for as many people to attend as possible), but we also need professional support and this is where we need your help. We need to raise £1,800 (£1,500 + VAT) to fund for a professional Barrister who specialises in licensing hearings to represent us.

As a member of this community (and someone who lives next door to the centre) I know that if this license goes through, it will bring about many issues to our neighbourhood such as drunkenness, child safety concerns, parking and road safety concerns, not to mention the discourage use of the Harold Road Centre with a significant part of the local community.

Myself and 20-30 other local people attended a meeting with the Director of Applecart cafe to voice our concerns, and they have made it crystal clear that they will not cease this license appeal nor will they put any further restrictions to their proposed timings or rulings (to be allowed to serve alcohol Mon-Fri 11AM to 11PM)

We also did a door to door petition and we have over 200 signees. If 200 people donated just £10 this will be enough to fund for a barrister, as proof I will provide a receipt of the payment made to the barrister. If we raise above our goal then we will be donating the remaining cost to a local charity., again proof will be provided. If we raise below then will be going door to door to raise the additional funds required.

    Why should I donate?

This is a pivotal moment for the local community, it is the time for us to step up and take control of the area that we live in. It will be very difficult to cease this license once it has been approved, issues raised above will become more prevalent and will be a great loss for the local community.

Myself, on behalf of all of the neighbours request that you try to donate as much as possible.

    Attend the hearing

Please try to attend the hearing, it's important that we have as many people as possible so that the licensing team can see that there is a strong opposition and will consider withdrawing the license. it will take place at the below address on the 3rd of October at 18:30:

First Floor, Town Hall Annexe , 330–354 Barking Road , East Ham , London E6 2RT.

    Jazaka'Allah.

Hello all. Huge thanks to all that have spread the word and donated to this cause. We've gathered enough funds (with a combo of online and offline funds) to hire one of the top barristers that specializes in this field. Today will be the final hearing whereby the decision will be given. I sincerely urge that you all come to the hearing which will take place at Newham Town Hall @18:30. Address is: London Borough of Newham Licensing Team First Floor, Town Hall Annexe 330–354 Barking Road London E6 2RT

Whatever the outcome, let's get a fair hearing with residents fairly represented. Please support.
