My name is Robbie Mitchell and I am the founder of Scammers Be Gone, we specialize in recovering funds for people that have been scammed and we do this by approaching the scammer, seller or company directly; we also deal with chargeback related requests

Before we go any further I would like to say that we did use to charge a fee for our services but we I don't want Scammers Be Gone to be perceived as only being interested in financial gain, we well now help the public at no charge to them at all.

We're hoping to be able to raise funding so that we can start moving forwards with things that we have planned to help people.

I've been involved with this kind of work since I was about 17 years old and it started when I helped a friend of mine to recover money from a bank transaction that he was not responsible for.

From there I have always had an active role regarding scam prevention & fund recovery, both my work and my hobbies have always included helping people that have been scammed.

Long story short - 15 years later and here we are - Scammers Be Gone is currently registered as an official company but we are soon to begin the process of reregistering as either a charity or a non for profit organization, myself & Gemma never set up to make huge amounts of money from what we are doing, so this seems like the best way forwards.

By becoming a registered charity one of the things we are hoping to do is to gain access to funding and grants that will help us to move forwards with our future plans.

Our main plans involve around launching our own investigation team that will search for and expose scam calling groups, offer financial support to romance scam victims and also offer all of our services for free.

A bit about us and our fee explained

Myself & Gemma never set our company up to make money from it, our original website and twitter page were only ever set up as an information and advice point only; we helped people for free and the only time we ever received a payment was when someone made a donation as a thank you gesture.

In February 2020 we successfully helped a guy from America (Grant) to recover funds that he lost to a scam, after we recovered his funds we naturally maintained a good relationship.

By March 2020 Grant helped us to start taking things to the next level by providing us with a small cash investment to begin the process of turning what we do into a company that can help people from around the world; Grant is now also listed as a company director and will eventually be leading our plans in the USA.

This provides multiple services & resources for people to use in order to reduce the risks of them being scammed again, if a person is scammed then the likelihood is that the scammer will strike again.

This means that we will not only recover the funds that people use, but we will also be there to protect & educate them for 12 months after.

Our plans

We have been operating as a registered company for just over 12 months and during 2020 we concentrated on getting our business to where it needs to be, now that we've have done that we are going to spend 2021 concentrating on moving forwards with some of the fantastic ideas that we have.

There are several different things that we will be trying to accomplish during 2021, I will now list these below & please feel free to ask any questions that you have.

1) School Education

We strongly believe that scam education is very important and that we should start teaching our children how to spot romance scams, stay safe online and what to do if they are scammed; we guarantee that if we were to start teaching these subject in schools then the amount of scam reports that are handled will start to reduce massively.

The main kind of scam that we would like to teach schools about is romance scams and then eventually we will start to educate on all other kinds of scams as well, but romance scams are the most reported form of scam in the world and it also has huge impacts on peoples mental health; so it is important that we start with this over anything else.

2) Social Media Authority

Scammers Be Gone wants to become the number 1 reporting platform for people to use in terms of reporting social media scams and fake profiles, the way that social media platforms handles scam reports is very poor and we believe that someone needs to be appointed as the leader of this.

We are planning on campaigning for Scammers Be Gone to be registered as the recommended reporting platform for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so that all reports regarding fake or scam profiles will come through to us.

We are also working on being granted the power from social media platforms to completely remove fake profile and romance scam profiles ourselves, once they are reported to us, we will also take proactive steps and will constantly seek out and destroy fake profiles that we find ourselves.

3) Our own public investigation service

Just in the UK alone there are an estimated 15,000 scam call centers operating at any one time, these scam centers seem to dedicate their attention to scamming elderly and vulnerable people.

The nature of these complaints mainly consist of consumers complaining that they were called by someone "who said they were my energy provider" and have made a payment or been conned into entering a service contract after being tricked into thinking that the caller is from a legitimate firm.

Calls pretending to be the police, trusted providers and even HMRC are the most common complaints recorded.

Again the way that these cases are handled is very poor and authorities in the UK do very little to actually investigate them and gain strong evidence that proves that scams are being committed, so Scammers Be Gone have plans to launch a comprehensive investigation service of our own.

Part of what we will be doing is proactively finding scam call centers ourselves and sending members of our team to pose as potentially new employees for these scam call centers, effectively working undercover. We can then secure video and audio recordings of how each scam call center operates and we can then use this to demand that authorities take immediate action.

So those are basically our plans for 2021, we are hoping that by becoming a charity or a NPO that we could secure grants or funding to help as achieve our goals so that it comes with no cost to the public.
