Story

Scarborough Swimming Club (SSC) was formed in 1893 as an offshoot of the Scarborough Rowing club with many of the members also having a keen interest in water polo which was played during the summer months of the North Pier in Scarborough’s North Bay.

The club are hoping to inspire the next generation of swimmers via their new learn to swim offer. We plan to offer swimming lessons free of charge to children of the Scarborough area. Swimming is a skill for life and can save lives in the coastal area that we live in.

We are passionate about swimming. The club is here to give everyone the opportunity to learn to swim, to support those who wish to develop their skills and encourage a lifelong enjoyment of being in the water. We believe that swimming can result in healthier, happier and more successful people and communities.
