Weʼve raised £4,344 to 7 year old Scarlett-Kate from Cornwall. To pay for her specialist back brace to help her fight evolving Scoliosis.

Funded on Friday, 19th July 2019

    Story

Scarlett-Kate is not like other children her age, she has faced a lot of struggles in her 7 years on this planet. She has cerebral palsy due to a long and very stressful labour, she was born not breathing. She was resucitated for around 10 minutes which of course starved her brain of oxygen.

Luckily this brain damage is minimal and things could of been a lot worse.

There have been a lot of battles for this little lady to fight and a lot more ahead. The next being Scoliosis.

When I saw her xray I could not believe it! Her spine is shaped like an S.

We went to see the scoliosis team on the NHS. We were told ehe will need to a wear a back brace for between 14 and 23 hours a day, until the point she is old enough for an operation.

I have been looking for a specialist for advice as this such a big thing to go through.

Thats when I found out about the Gensingen brace. The money will be spent on getting specialist brace.

    AND CHANGING HER LIFE!

As you can see from the comparison picture above, there is a huge difference between the NHS standard one and the specialist brace.

Its not so much about the visible aspects between the two. I've done a lot of research and there is evidence that because it is made to measure and is more comfortable to wear, it has a greater compliance rate.

This brace could even correct the curve! 🤞

Currently using the NHS brace and treatment plan correcting scoliosis is not possible without a spinal fusion.

Theres no question in my mind whether or not to do it, its more of a question of how!

This little girl is absolutely incredible and her strength is so inspiring. She stays positive despite the sleepless nights and back pain every day alongside the symptoms of CP and muscle spasms.

The way she smiles and just gets on with life in her little carefree Scarlett way inspires me to keep going.
No matter how down and powerless I feel sometimes.

If you can help in any way, it will be so appreciated! 💚💚💚

In 10 days we have raised over £4000! It is truly incredible what can be achieved when everyone pulls together. I cant explain how grateful I am for the support! We now have enough for the brace, this will change Scarlett-Kate's life drastically. I cannot withdraw the money or close the page until wednesday as that will be 14 days after opening the account. As we have gone over target, with more to come! Any further money raised will pay for private physio which will help reduce pain and increase mobility for Scarlett-Kate. Thank you so much!x

My friend had the same back problem. Despite everything, she always put others first. Her smile lit up her face & was contagious. I hope you have a great, happy life, always surrounded by Love
