Story

I'm cycling 200 miles from Edinburgh to Clitheroe to raise money to help School of You (a community interest company) deliver free or low-cost therapeutic creative wellbeing sessions for SEND, older adults, carers & marginalised groups across Lancashire—building inclusion and connection.

School of You is a community interest company passionate about emotional health and inclusion through creative, holistic approaches. Their therapeutic workshops blend art, movement, reflection and psychoeducation to help people feel calm, connected and confident. Previous workshops for adults with additional needs, older adults and marginalised communities were fully booked, with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Many described the experience as “life-changing,” “relaxing,” and even “saved my life.”

All money raised will go into a separate crowdfunder with Lancashire County Council, with Lancashire matching the funds raised. Unfortunately that project has not been set up in time, hence this separate crowdfunder.

The funded project will expand School of You's reach by providing access to free or subsidised wellbeing sessions for all, but with particular focus across Lancashire for SEND adults, isolated older people and underrepresented groups. We also aim to strengthen volunteer pathways for counselling and mental health trainees by offering shadowing opportunities. Funding will support us to reach different communities and take us into spaces people already trust—like day centres, parks and community venues.
