    Story

SCIAC or Spinal Cord Injury Association of Cambodia is in big need of external funding at the moment and it's urgent or the organization will undergo within a few weeks. If that happens it will, foremost, be a huge loss for the spinal cord injured community in Cambodia, but it also will be very hard to re-build/start up the organization again after some time because then the engaged people in the board etc. and the one left employee will be gone

The reason why SCIAC has ended up in this situation is diversed and complexed and would require more than the words available at this site to describe. The short version: lack of both external (NGO's) and internal (govt.) funding and support. Simple as that, but way more complexed at the same time.

If SCIAC undergo it can no more provide help at home to SCI's (spinal cord injured) by go on their monthly outreach-rounds in the Battambang area, nor either run the monthly "Group training" courses held at the SCI centre in Battambang. The work SCIAC do to advocate for SCI/disability rights towards government and the society as a whole will fall apart, as with all the other "invisible work" SCIAC do on daily basis. Work like improve the quality of life for SCI's in Cambodia, educate and provide knowlegde both to SCI's and others about how to live with a complex disability that a spinal cord injury is and so on...

SCIAC now facing both an economical crisis and a location issue because the SCI rehab centre in Battambang is moving to new facilities 6km outside city centre of Battambang and unfortunally SCIAC is not part of that plan and therefore have to find a new location for it's office and storage building near by the new centre. With no money - no new office/storage building. Without a office location it will impossible to run the organisation futher.
