Story

When I was thirteen years old I saw the movie Billy Eliot and was captivated by the story and the idea of a boy being able to dance and perform. I can remember seeing the Male swan leap on to the stage at the end of the movie and from then on, I had decided that dancing was what I wanted to do with my life. I then auditioned for the Dance School of Scotland where I was accepted. Since then I have been training at vocational schools working every day to pursue a career in ballet and dance. After studying in Scotland for four years I auditioned for Central School of Ballet in London. Thankfully I was accepted and have continued my dance training at Central for the past three years. Now that my time at Central has finished I have been looking for employment. After auditioning for many places in both the United Kingdom and Europe with no success things were looking down. I was in a rehearsal at school one day when a visitor had come in to watch. I remember I was given a correction during the class and I was so intent on impressing her that I tried again and again until I got it right. At the end of the class I was told that she was impressed with my work and was interested in helping me. She later told that I had an amazing opportunity to go to America and Study with the Milwaukee Ballet in a program for young aspiring dancers. The program is a unique opportunity allowing dancers to train and work on their technique with classes during the day but also have the exciting opportunity to work alongside the company throughout the year dancing in some of their main productions. I have been absolutely thrilled by the opportunity. However, after three years of studying for my degree at Ballet school money is an issue and unfortunately this amazing opportunity that will launch me into my career and life as a dancer will not be possible unless I am able to find some the funds to support me. I was made aware of the JustGiving page and thought that it could be my chance to achieve my dreams.
