Story

On the 16th October 2017, I got a call from the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit that literally changed my life. For two years I had been battling liver disease and cirrhosis, and knew that a transplant was, although not a cure, the only treatment that could hopefully give me some form of life again.

Overnight into the 17th October my Liver Surgeon, Ms Adair, and her marvelous team worked a miracle, and although I didn't know it, immediately I started the recovery to my 'old self', well perhaps...

I would not be here for the dedication of the team, who still keep a close eye on me, but there is also another very important person in all l of this, my donor, whoever he/she may be, without them I would not be starting my life again.

I have thought about that person everyday, and is my angel, who I know is watching over me all the time, so in part this is also in memory of their brave decision to be a donor, and their family for making a heroic decision at a time of tragedy.

I may be alive today, and through me, they will live on.
