This year SDE are taking on an exciting new adventure to raise funds for three incredible charities: Ashgate Hospice, Neuroendocrine UK, and HUGS. These causes are especially meaningful to our team, and we’re thrilled to come together as a company to give back to the communities that have supported us.

This event isn’t just about raising money - it’s also about bringing SDE together. By working across departments, we’re strengthening connections, boosting morale, and reinforcing our shared commitment to making a difference.

About the Charities:

Ashgate Hospice

Ashgate Hospice offers free, compassionate care for adults with life-limiting or incurable illnesses such as cancer and neurological diseases. Based in North Derbyshire, we provide palliative and end of life care, ensuring our patients are well-supported and comfortable. Our services also extend to the people who are important to them, offering practical help and emotional support.

The majority of our services are funded through community generosity, with over 60% of our budget coming from donations and 31% from local NHS contributions. At Ashgate, our vision is for people to have the right care and support when it matters most.

HUGS

Hugs Children’s Cancer charity was set up by parents who lived the nightmare of a childhood cancer diagnosis and knew the challenges it creates. The charity supports families with financial and emotional care and respite in our unique holiday home in Cornwall.

In 2025 the charity will open their first ‘Hugs Hib’ providing a break out space for families to come and seek support, whether it be just for a coffee or if the parent/child need formal Counselling, Hugs will provide it here. Donations to our charity mean that we can continue our work within the childhood cancer community which grows year on year.

Neuroendocrine UK

Neuroendocrine Cancer UK is a national charity focused on supporting individuals living with neuroendocrine cancer and raising awareness of this uncommon and often misdiagnosed disease. Our mission is to provide information, support, and guidance for patients, their families, and healthcare professionals, while funding vital research to advance the understanding and treatment of neuroendocrine cancer.

Neuroendocrine cancer is a type of cancer that begins in the neuroendocrine cells, which are found throughout the body. These cells release hormones that can regulate many body functions, and when they become cancerous, they can grow in almost any organ. Neuroendocrine cancers are often slow-growing, but can also be aggressive and hard to diagnose due to their symptoms often mimicking other conditions.

At Neuroendocrine Cancer UK, we provide information on the various forms of neuroendocrine cancer, offer practical support for patients and families, and advocate for improved treatments and care pathways. We collaborate with research institutions, healthcare providers, and other cancer charities to make sure neuroendocrine cancer gets the attention it deserves.
