    Story

We are undertaking a massive project to rescue the former Sealink ferry Horsa from demolition. The MV Horsa used to serve the UK Folkestone to French ports route. The ship was sold in the early 90's to a Greek company who continued to operate it as a passenger ferry services in the Mediterranean until 2013, since when it has been laid up in a Greek port.

The last remaining of a family of three ferries its sister ships MV Senlac & MV Hengist have now both been long since scrapped. The Horsa (and its sister ferries) have a big history and heritage in the UK all three have big histories from being thrown ashore in the great storm of 1987 to being bashed against the dock.

Our children of today simply see the new cross channel ferries come and go a bit like modern trains. As horrible as they were towards the end slam door trains are a massive part of British heritage such as these ships.

We want to recuse this ship and restore it as a floating museum of the cross channel history and interactive children's areas keeping this important era of history alive for this history it will preserve and for the entertainment venue it will allow for both current and future generations. We have mooring in a south coast port to conduct the restoration and will be looking for a permanent mooring once the restoration is under way giving better access to the historical nature of this venture. The port where the museum is eventually open will give increased tourist trade there.

We are proposing the MV Horsa to be re fitted In her Sealink British ferries livery and the use of multimedia experiences to create a versatile platform in which to educate people in the history of cross channel ferries which can be constantly updated as time moves on. This vessel again will have a history of the channel crossings focus while being a time warp for children and adults of today being as she was in the 80's when she was in active service.

We cannot start this project until we have the vessel, and it is therefore important to get this vessel before its current owners decide to scrap it. This is where you come in, we need help to rescue them from the scrap yard and have them towed back to the UK. As you can imagine this is not cheap. Please help us preserve his important part of our history before its too late.

I've great memories of travelling with Sealink as a child. Also, I'm delighted to hear that you've decided to restore her to her 'British Ferries' livery from the 1980s. Best of luck.
