Story

Hi, I'm Seamus. Over the summer I learnt about the history of racism and civil rights. I read amazing books such as STAMPED by Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds. I feel I now know more about what happened when people were not treated fairly and how much people suffer from racism. I wanted to fundraise for a project that got kids reading these kinds of books.

Recently, I found a great local charity, BOOK CLUBS IN SCHOOLS which runs book clubs in schools which really need them. They read and discuss books by authors like Jason Reynolds who I love.

I really like a challenge, so I'm going to do an Olympic Triathlon (1.5k swim, 10k run, 40k bike ride) over three days during half-term to raise this money. My original goal was to raise £500 for Book Clubs in Schools to cover the cost of books, author visits and training for book club leaders. If we can raise more, my mum and I will work with BOOK CLUBS IN SCHOOLS to create more book clubs.

To find out more about Book Clubs in Schools, see here: https://bookclubsinschools.org/

And if you want to check out a great book shop, Round Table Books website is https://www.roundtablebooks.co.uk/about.

Please sponsor me, it would mean a lot. Thank you for your support!
