I've raised £1000 to Cancer Research and WISE Mosque in High Wycombe

Hi there! I'm Sean Dakin, aka a DJ/Producer under my alias Sean Mathews. I'm also a presenter on the Local Wycombe Sound Station 106.6FM.
In May 2019 I'm fasting for charity and a good local cause.
Here’s a brief picture behind the reasons for my chosen causes:
Cancer Research-
I personally have felt the wrath of cancer through losing my Mum at the age of 48, she was my rock. She helped me in so many ways from a young age with various learning difficulties, but also inspired me to follow my dreams which is exactly what I'm doing today. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer back in 2005 and was initially given the all clear in 2006. A little under a year later she was diagnosed with it again, but terminal. She passed away on 20th May 2008. We still don't know to this day how the cancer returned and spread throughout her body.
We all know of someone who's been affected by this horrible disease whether it's a family member, a friend or someone on the news. I hope we will sooner than later be able to save everyone from it.
WISE Mosque-
My mum was always a great believer in respecting other people’s beliefs and religion, no matter your own. I have some very close friends who are Muslim. I attended their Mosque back in 2017 for an open evening and was invited back to see the evening prayer during Ramadan, 1 Year later I was then challenged to fast for a day during Ramadan 2018. I subsequently posted about my experience to which I recieved the most heart-warming of responses from the local community in Wycombe and was then invited to the Eid celebrations. This was a truly amazing experience to see and be a part of.
This has led to 2019 where I will put myself in the shoes of my close friends and their families along with the rest of our wonderful brothers and sisters within the Muslim Community in High Wycombe and fast for the whole of Ramadan 2019.
The Aim:
I've set an ambitious target of £1000 where the proceeds will be split 50/50. Whilst WISE Mosque is not a charity itself I wish for the money that is given to them to be put to either good local causes or charity(s) close to their heart.
With so much negativity in the media surrounding the Religion, I feel it’s important than ever to bring people together. We are ALL neighbours in our local community and I feel it's important to raise awareness of not just the added Health benefits of fasting, but also how peaceful the Religion actually is in comparision to the side people see in the Media.
There are many added health benefits to fasting and in undertaking the challenge on a personal level, I hope to get fitter than I already am and lose some weight in the process.
It really would make a difference to peoples lives if we manage to smash past the £1000 target.
I hope you will support me in making a difference to two very worthwhile causes both for charity and the local community: the more money we can raise the greater our result will be!
THANK YOU for your Support.
Sean
