Story

Sean's Place Cycling Club Challenge:

Our cycling club are taking on 3 epic rides during the month of July to raise funds for Sean's Place, also raise awareness around men's mental health and help to break the stigma that still surrounds men's mental health today!

Our team consists of: SEANS PLACE STAFF / SEANS PLACE MEMBERS / SEAN'S FAMILY / SEANS PLACE PARTNER SERVICE REPRESENTITIVES.

All of the cycling team have been affected by poor mental health in one way or another and know first hand what this amazing organisation does for the Liverpool / Sefton communities.

THE CHALLENGE

Ride #1 (6th July)

Our team will be leaving Sean's Place at 6am to head into Liverpool to take part in the "LCL2025" cycling event, then will be riding back to our personal finish line at SP after the event.

DISTANCE -110km / ELEVATION - 528mtrs

Ride #2 (13th July)

Our team will be taking part in the "Manchester to Blackpool 2025" event which is a total of 109km but to add some extra pain to the day our team have decided to start at Sean's Place at 6am and ride the 55km to the event start point at Salford quays. Here they will join the event covering 110km from Manchester to the glitterball on Blackpool prom where the event ends but instead of stopping here the team will be adding an additional 72km onto the day by riding from the event finish line back to Sean's Place!!

DISTANCE - 237km / ELEVATION - 2271mtrs

Ride #3 (27 July)

For the final event of the series our team will be taking part in the "Castles of Conquest" event covering 145km around North Wales. As the lads love a challenge they will once again be starting from Sean's Place very early in the morning and riding the 37km over to the event start point in Chester town centre, taking part in the event and once they return to Chester for the official event finish line they will be again covering an additional distance to return to Sean's Place Headquarters.

DISTANCE - 240km / ELEVATION - 1968mtrs

That's a total of 587km & 4767mtrs across 3 Sundays for our team of very determined but also very average cyclists!!

OUR REASON:

Sean’s Place is dedicated to providing practical, proactive mental health support to men in Sefton & Liverpool experiencing poor mental health and isolation.

We believe that suicide is preventable and are committed to challenging the stigma surrounding male mental health. By creating a safe and supportive environment, we demonstrate that men do open up when given the right space and that meaningful conversations can significantly prevent mental health struggles.

OUR AIM:

We want to raise as much for Sean's Place as we possibly can to enable them to continue to provide free and immediate access to support for men across Merseyside.

Ordinary men can achieve extraordinary things with just a little bit of guidance, support, friendship, self belief, encouragement and love - all the things that they can find when they reach out to Sean's Place for help!!!!
