Story
Who here remembers SEA OF SONGS? Well I'm happy to announce that 9th July we will be hosting our second SEA OF SONGS in Watchet!
So many people have shared their memories with me over the last few years that it inspired us to fire it up again. For those that missed this one day event...
On June 1st 2019 Fox Lane Music and I curated a music and art trail dedicated to Watchet. I had shortly moved to Watchet and fell in love with all its vibrant and creative people. Quietly I decided to ask around in hope to try and make what then became SEA OF SONGS. A non-profit FREE Music & Art trail day event! We worked really hard out of my old HQ Yon interiors on Swain Street. We organised 6 stages around town, had over 15 artists, workshops, a live art piece, a map, beautiful poetry from our very talented Deanna Payne AKA Twitch, who recently had her own exhibition at the East Quay, David Milton welcomed in the guests and kicked the whole day off, Jill Newton painted and designed a beautiful poster and we made over 1000 origami boats and hung them up for decorations!
Want to get involved? Heres how:
- Donate. Even just the price of a pint you would spend in each of these venues. Every little helps. As I explained above, Sea Of Songs is a free event! How is it free? Each venue has donated money and we’ve already raised £1000 from local businesses & organisations including, Pebbles Tavern, Esplanade, The West, Boat Museum, The London Inn, East Quay, The Cats Whisker Kitchen, Lynda Cotton Gallery, Pleasure Ground Group… we are asking you to help match each venue... This way we can pay for: The bands/artist, hire of PA systems and sound engineer, Design and printing of poster & map, travel costs etc
- VOLUNTEER. We are so welcoming of ANYONES help. If you feel like you have a skill or just want to get involved. There are many many tasks to help this day festival happen. It really does take a village :)
- APPLY TO PERFORM/ SHOWCASE YOUR ART: We want this also to be an opportunity to welcome any new & old local talent. We will find a place for you either on our open mic stage or at one of the venues over the course of the weekend. Email us here: sosseaofsongs@gmail.com
So much more to share with you, but for now here is a video we made of Watchet on that glorious sunny day!
Thankyou for your time, reading, donating & sharing!
