    Story

SELAG Midlands Connect, Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council are proposing a new A46 Expressway to run from the M1 at Cosby through the countryside of South and East Leicestershire to join the A46 at Syston. They are very shy about the exact planned route.

SELAG has been formed by a number of local District and Parish councils and Parish meetings to oppose this Expressway.

We believe its a waste of tax payers money - there are cheaper alternatives for solving traffic congestion around Leicester. Improving the existing M69/M1/A46 road system makes much more sense.

We believe it's an environmental disaster to put a brand new road through beautiful countryside and a historic landscape

We believe there are no benefits for local people - the new road does nothing to improve the choked roads and bottlenecks into Leicester and the City itself

We believe it's an excuse to let developers add thousands of homes to the countryside without proper consultations.
