What's happening?

Hi this is Harrison Thompson from Skegness and he has the condition, Spinal Muscular atrophy, type 1. This means his muscles and brain cannot communicate to effectively move his limbs. This is only the first step. Unfortunately, in time, he will be unable to swallow and this will also lead to being unable to breathe. He is 18 months and he is already defying the odds, with helping hands from his Mum, Dad and brother.
We will be raising money for this family which will help them to build a vital extension and or provide Harrison with a much needed self-operated wheelchair.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare, genetically inherited neuromuscular condition. SMA may affect crawling and walking ability, arm, hand, head and neck movement, breathing and swallowing. SMA is often grouped into ‘Types’. Types of SMA are based on the age at which symptoms first appear and what physical ‘milestones’ a baby or child is likely to achieve. Milestones can include the ability to sit, stand, or walk.

The zumbathon starts from 7.00 to 10.00pm
