Story

Hi, I’m Sam, a 17 year old student. My Dad passed away in January 2018 and we were able to raise more than £2000 for charity to fund earlier detection of cancer. My next big challenge is to help others directly. I want to spend a month in Peru in 2019 doing voluntary work with and for poor and hungry people living in remote villages. I will do things like make bricks to build classrooms, dig irrigation channels to support farming, plant trees and construct toilets to improve sanitation.

As well as helping others, it would be a life changing experience for me, developing my independence, confidence and giving me something really big to look forwards to. I’m hoping you will help me raise the money needed to cover my flights and transport, food and lodgings, basic kit, insurance, materials used and for the experienced support staff of Camps International who lead the work placements and look after the student volunteers.

As well as this page, I’ll be adding in money I raise through sponsored walks, a 24 hour fast, earnings from summer work and my part time job.

I’ll keep adding updates about how the fundraising journey is going. Thank you for your interest and support, every single pound will help - letting me make positive steps forwards towards helping others.
