Story
I am taking part in the Manchester marathon, as part of a relay team on the 8th April 2018 and will be running 11K. This is just something fun do to with work friends. However I have decided to raise money, to be donated to the Sepsis UK Trust and heres why ...
The first Friday of Februaury 2018 my nan suddenly become severly unwell , to touch she was cold but also clamy with a high temperature. She started to go in and out of consciousness and became worryingly pale. It became more than clear that we needed to call 999. Once the paramedic attended she took her blood pressure, my nans blood pressure was extremely low and she was put a on an antibiotic drip immediately & taken to hospital. Once at hospital she was treated in resus, where we learnt she had sepsis.
If it wasn't for the staff at Whiston hospital and how much the NHS have improved the care of sepsis and raised awareness of the silent killer. I hate to think how the situation could be.
Sepsis claims approximately six million lives worldwide every year, but many of those could be saved with increased public awareness, education for healthcare professionals and other basic care provisions.
Please donate to help keep raising awareness of sepsis.
