    Story

I am a very proud student nurse and my September 17 cohort student colleagues are working hard on assignments and have also volunteered to join the Frontline, helping support their NHS colleagues in their fight against COVID-19. I feel that they have shown altruism, bravery, compassion and caring; putting themselves forward to face this invisible enemy and support their future colleagues. To do this they are having to join the wards and in community for an extended period. They are mainly working across the United Kingdom in health trusts and they include Adult nursing, Child and Young Peoples' nursing, Mental Health nursing and Learning Disability nursing teams. Some have moved away from their family and friends to do this.

They have not been able to arrange their Graduation celebrations for when they will finally Graduate, hopefully in November, and they are going to have other issues and worries to fill their minds, so it appears that they may be the first cohort, in my experience, not to have a graduation celebration. Therefore I have decided to try and help them with it and arrange some kind of celebration, hopefully with your help to thank them for their sacrifices.

I will need to hire a large venue (hotel/conference centre), arrange food and a bar, disco/entertainment, table decorations and a photographer for the night for over 120 nurses. Any offers of help or donations would be fabulous. It would be wonderful to give them the celebration that they deserve after three years of hard study and placements culminating in their selfless decision to join and support the workforce early.

This fundraiser is not connected to any establishment or business, but a personal one from me to show appreciation to these students.

I thank you in advance for any donations or offers of help.

We have had a fantastic offer from the Mercure Walton Hall Hotel who are giving us a large discount on the venue, rooms, dinner, DJ and drinks reception. A photographer is booked and we have been offered balloons and decorations at cost price. If we reach our target then 160 student nurses will have the fabulous celebration that they deserve. Huge thanks to everyone who has shared and donated so far- almost half way- please keep sharing xxxx
