Story
Why we’re taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks
Settrington Cricket Club is more than just a place to play cricket. It’s a cornerstone of the local community — a place where generations have grown up learning teamwork, resilience, and a love of sport. From junior players picking up a bat for the first time to long-standing members who keep the club alive behind the scenes, the club brings people together in a way few things can.
Like many grassroots sports clubs, Settrington CC relies heavily on fundraising and community support to survive and thrive. Facilities, equipment, coaching for young players, and the simple day-to-day running of the club all depend on the generosity of others.
That’s why we’ve decided to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
In one day, we’ll climb Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough — around 24 miles, 1,585 metres of ascent, and up to 12 hours of walking. It’s going to be tough, exhausting, and well outside our comfort zones (we're not known for being the most mobile of teams!) — but that’s exactly the point.
We’re doing this to raise money that will make a real difference to Settrington Cricket Club. We have some very antiquated groundcare equipment and a very poorly roller (possibly the most essential part of pitch preparation) Donating to our cause will help to ensure Settrington CC can continue to provide opportunities for players of all ages and remain a proud part of the local community for years to come.
Every donation, big or small, will help push us up those hills and directly support a club that means so much to so many.
Thank you for supporting us — and for backing Settrington Cricket Club. 🏏⛰️
