At 1.30am on Wednesday 14th June, Seun woke to people shouting there was a fire. He woke up Rosemary and their 4 year old daughter Keziah and tried to escape from their 14th floor flat but the smoke in the hallway was already too much and they ran back into their flat.
The next hour and a half was a terrifying ordeal of planning escape routes, saying goodbyes and witnessing their friends, neighbours and children dying in their flat.
At 3am, as their home started melting, a fireman arrived at the door they managed to tie Keziah to Seun’s back and make a run through the pitch black smoke to the stairwell. Through their sheer determination and bravery they managed to run down the 14 floors and escape. It’s incredible they are all here.
Both Suen and Rosemary have been discharged from hospital and doing ok and although Keziah is still in hospital, she is getting better.
