    Story

CommunityMasks4NHS raised an incredible £40,000 for NHS Charities Together. With this huge success, and the emerging mental health crisis from the pandemic, this has evolved to Sew Positive, a new charity to support people facing social isolation and bring our communities together through sewing.

Please donate for your masks to support us as we set up our new charity, and help us fundraise to deliver our services to vulnerable groups.

    Sew Positive will provide:

    • Sewing workshops for people facing social exclusion, including people facing unemployment, financial hardship, ill health, poor education or discrimination.

    • Products for sale made by our team of wonderful volunteers to fundraise to deliver our services.

    • A variety of community virtual groups for isolated people to share their sewing and craft projects with each other.

We will continue to make masks as volunteers and sell them to support the set up of the charity on THIS page.

    1) Your payment of £5 per mask should now come to Sew Positive on this site.

    2) For postage, please donate an extra £2 on top of your order cost for 1-6 masks, or £3 per order for 7 masks or over.

    3) Click on the 'Sew Positive - Order Form' link below to complete the ORDER FORM once you have donated to this JustGiving page:

Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments, support and fantastic donations of money, time, fabric during our work for CommunityMasks4NHS. It's amazing what we can do together. Sew Positive will continue as a result of this, and address the evolving issues of social isolation as we move forward.

Janome, the brand leader for sewing machines in the UK, has generously donated 7 sewing machines to Sew Positive! This is in a collaboration with The Cambridge Fabric Company and MAKE Cambridge to enable Sew Positive to run workshops to help bring communities together through sewing. Melissa suggested donating the older machines as an ideal way to support their fledgling charity, while also supporting The Cambridge Fabric Company and MAKE Cambridge. We can't wait to use them in our workshops!

Nestled in a 'secret garden' next to the village coffee shop, Melissa discovered an inspiring charity, which also uses sewing to turn around lives. Theodore Menelik-Mfuni is founder and director of Menelik Education UK, helping vulnerable women and girls who have experienced sexual violence or domestic abuse. They develop skills to support financial independence, including sewing using African waxed fabrics. The partnership with Sew Positive will supply fabrics at a discount to help women lead a sustainable life. www.menelikeducation.info
