Iʼve raised £640 to create a borehole that will enable Kevin to develop a garden so he can sell crops and use the income to support his football academy.

    Story

Kevin wants to create a garden for his village which will provide the opportunity to carry out activities for the local children. Grow crops and sell them to provide a sustainable income that will support the future of The Young Villa Football Academy and the valuable work he does.

Kevin Boucal works for the Ministry of Basic And Secondary Education in The Gambia for boys, girls, men & women.

In 2018 he was introduced to Aston Villa by two holidaymakers who went on to provide kits and balls to some of the teams. Inspired by their love of Aston Villa he became a supporter and went on to develop ‘The Young Villa Football Academy.’

Since then he has been developing the organisation further & is using football as a way to educate, protect & empower girls and women.

He reached out to me on my website www.supportgirlsinfootball.com to ask for advice regarding the difficulties he was facing in The Gambia when recruiting players and supporting his players' welfare:

    He wrote:

”Living in The Gambia; I know how hard it is to develop girl's football, it can be so challenging. I use football as a way to keep girls safe, advise them about early marriages, teenage pregnancy, and female genital mutilation (FGM). All of these difficulties have caused a lot of harm in our society. A lot of men just take a child as a wife and that is the end of the girls’ childhood.

I have been working over the years to bring young girls through football and I am happy with the progress I’ve been making but it’s hard without support.

I would really appreciate any help to keep my activities going, I want more ladies to come out and be a part, it's very tough for me to recruit. But, I am not giving up.”
