Story

In January 2017, I resigned from my employment due to a fundamental breach of my contract relating to discrimination and the affiliation of my black hijab (headscarf) with terrorism. I was informed that I could not wear a black hijab to work. This requirement was not imposed on workers with other religious beliefs or to members of the opposite gender. Accordingly, I have commenced legal proceedings against my former employers for religious and sex discrimination. They are are seeking to evade liability for the claim by appearing as though they are no longer trading, however they have now been taken over by another company and the new company remains liable for my claim.

I do not have sufficient the funds to fight this case and I humbly request support from anyone who can help me with my legal fees which are likely to amount to approximately £15,000. This will cover the costs for my solicitors to gather evidence, including work involved in the preparation of the bundle for the hearing and witness statements ,and preparing a schedule of loss. It will also cover costs for a barrister to represent me at a preliminary hearing where the issues in the case will be determined, as well as representing me at the substantive hearing (trial).

I am not somebody who usually calls out for help for myself but on this occasion, I sincerely ask for your duas (prayers) first and foremost, and then any financial assistance you can give towards my cause in helping me seek justice for myself, and on behalf of Muslim women to have the right to wear their hijab without being discriminated against.

We cannot allow any kind of discrimination to force us into situations that consequently end up affecting our livelihoods.

Thank you for your generosity and support.
