Story

My father passed away after an aggressive battle with cancer. I want to place a commemorative bench by the duck pond in the botanic gardens to remember him. Moreover, raise awareness that mental health is truly important. All his life he worked hard to provide for his family, and neglected his own mental health. There is a big stigma around mental health awareness for Asian men. He meant the world to me, I want to take this chance to show my family they can open up, and feel free from judgement. No one should feel alone. My mother and I have set ourselves a goal to raise money for Cancer research, and do anything to help those that are battling with cancer. I just want to be able to sit by the ducks and show my dad that he is always in our thoughts, I will till my last breath feed the birds- the one thing he loved the most.
