I've raised £1000 to Help children to discover, learn and enjoy music, especially those who may not otherwise have this opportunity, in memory of Mo Robinson.

In memory of Mo Robinson In Memory of Mo Robinson we would like to help the children of Katherine Semar Infant and Junior school to discover and experience the joy of learning to play an instrument, especially those who otherwise would not have this opportunity.
Mo Robinson sadly passed away in August 2020 but not before having enjoyed a wonderful career as a professional musician.
By the age of four he had discovered music with the enthusiasm of his grandmother who gave him a trumpet and piano lessons. By the age of 15 he was a proficient double bass player who was given his first professional gig as a stand in for his tutor who had become ill. He later attended the Northern College of music and his career extended to session recordings at Abbey Road studios, heading to Southampton to play aboard The Queen Mary en route to New York (where his passion for Latin music and love for percussion blossomed) before playing with the Eric Delaney band across Europe. He eventually emigrated to South Africa and spent years touring with bands before settling in Cape Town where he played in Symphony Orchestras, Gerry Bosman Big Band, Jazz bands & the South African Navy Band where he also played Tuba on parades. On retirement he worked the cruise ship circuit with Pete Nilson before returning home to the UK to join his family. A musician is never truly retired so it was inevitable he'd take up something new...the bass recorder in various orchestras in London and the Home Counties. Due to ill health he was unable to continue to travel or play and reluctantly set the bass down in 2018.
Mo is fondly remembered by many as a kind gentleman who was generous personally and professionally. He was incredibly hard working and passionate and enjoyed a career that spanned 63 years.
As his family, we would like to keep his memory alive by contributing to funds that will provide opportunities for children to discover and have access to music lessons and instruments.
Thank you for your support.
